Blodes Clinch First The Whitby Winvalley Blades recently clinched flrst place in the Whitby Girl's Sports Hockey Association as they shut out Ennismore 5-0. There was no seoring in the first period of the game as both teams held their own. Things picked up for Whit- by in the second period as Lois Pitre, Barb Boyes and Robynn lbbitson collected singles. Barb Boyes added the fin- ai two goals in the third peri- od giving her a hattrick for the night. For Whitby it was their eight win in a row and fourth shut' out of the year as Patti Underwood reduced her goals ap-ainst 'averaee to 1.46. Whitby has had only three goals scored- on them in their last six games. Brookliln Loses Tournament The Brooklin Concrete Major Atom Alîstars lost out in a recent tournarnent in Newmarket., Brooklin defeated Aurora 2-1 in their first garnie. The two tearns were tied at one after regulation time with Paul Rich notching Brooklin's goal. However, Danny Garrard scored for Brooldin in a shootout to give his team the victory. In the second game, Brooklin suffered a 5-3 de- feat at the hands of Lindsay. Dave Shippel scored a hat- trick for the winners with Rob Doyle coliecting a pair. Derek Kotyluk, with two and Jeff Donaldson replied for the losers. The Brooklin-Whitby Con- solidated Building Corpora- tion Juvenle Allstars, after losing the first garne, came on' strong in their playoff series and eliminated Lindsay two games to one. The second game of the best-of-three series was played in Lindsay. C.B.C. won 3-0 with rook- ie Steve White earning the shutout. Larry Graham, Ar- mand Robitaille and Dave Sorichetti scored for th e winners. The two tearns then returned to Iroquois Park Arena for the third and final gamne which saw thie locals win 5-3. C.B.C. built uip a 5-1 lead by the end of the second per- iod on goals by Jirn De Mille, with two, Larry Grahamn, Dave Sorichetti and Ed Szczur with singles. Lindsay scoreci two unan- swered goals in the final stanza but it was too little too late. Kevin Bushy, Russ Robin- son and Bob Wallace tallied for the losers. C.B.C. wil now enter the group finals, against Cobourg who earlier sideline a strong Ajax squad in -four games. Lacrosse Associaotion Begins Rais*ing Funds The Garrard Road Minor Lacrosse Association will be holding a fund-raising dance at the Oshawa Y.M.C.A. on March 8. Tickets are $6 per couple and there will be lunch, door prizes and bar privileges. The association will set up registration desks at Brookiin arena and St. Pauls school between 6 and 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 27. Fees are $3 per player and $6 per famly and ail persons from areas having no organized la- crosse are welcomne. A tenth annivcrsary dance is being planned for somne- time this faîl and a list of former players, parents and executive is being compled. The jobs of Referee-in- chief, Sponbor Co-ordinator, Junior Executive Co-ordina- tor and Durham- Regional House League Representative are as of yet unf-iled. Any- one interested should cal 728-0528. Each teamn recorded a victory in the opposition's rink to give Ajax a 2-1 lead in their playoff series. With Ajax, leading one gamne to none, Canadian Tire travelled to Ajax and defeated the hiosts '6-I. Ajax took the third game by a 5-3 count when the two teams met again at Whitby's Iroquois Park Arena.
