The students, who bcft by bus on Monday and will be returning Friday, will be stay- ing at students' homes and their activities will include skiing ini the Laurentians, visits to the aid section of Montreal as well as attending classes at Riviere-des-Prairies. Students fromi Montreal wil return the visit theweek of April 7-1 1 and, they may be taken -to, the Ontario Science Centre and possibly Niagara Fàlls. 1'Dennis O'Connor will -be hQlding a fund raising fashion show April 3 to r aise money for these events. Travelling expeinses for the trips were raised in part by fund raising, part paid by the students, and in part by federal, and provincial grants. MacBeth announced' new minimum wage rates for Ontario which will corne into effect May 1, 1975._1 The minimum wage for general industry will be $2.40 and for the construction industry $2.65. "This revision", the Minister said, "has been necess'ary to keep pace with the încreased cost of living". He added that the -Ministry is preparing a bookiet for distribution ta employers in the p rovince outlining in detail the intention and applications of the newly revised Employrnent Standards Act. Subjeets will include cover- age; homeworkers; h ours of work; minimum wage; paid public holidays; equal pay for substantially the same kind of work; benefits such as pension plans; pregnancy leave and termination. The bookiet will be available early in February.
