Don Kennedy is the Vice- president of the W.M.B.A., mov- ing from the post of Equipment Manager to the second-in-com- mand spot. Kennedy, who is very active in Whitby minor sports, has been involved in min- or hockey for many years acting as a convenor and coach and has been a valuable addition to base- ball ranks in recent years. Otto Gilks will replace Ken- nedy as the man in charge of the bats, balls, catchers' gear, etc. for the W.M.B.A. and responsible for the several thousands of dollars of equip- ment owned by the association. Three returnees are filling important positions for another year. Bill Puchalski will act once again as Treasurer. Gerald Robinson returns as Secretary and Jim Hanley will handle the chores of the Registrar for a second year. Public Relations will once again be the responsi- bility of Neil Murkar. For the '75 season a new face comes to the post of Umpire-in-Chief. Rod Fillier, who has been active on the Whitby baseball scene for many years as a player and more recently as an·official, will be in charge of the men in blue for the coming year. He will be responsible for the assigning of arbiters to Whitby's E.O.B.A. contests and act as an overseer of the officiating in the associa- tion's house leagues. All of the men in these posts are members of the fifteen-man Board of Directors of the W.M.B.A. It's not all work getting ready for the opening day of the season in Whitby, however, one of the big events of the season is the annual W.M.B.A. Spring Ball to be held at Heydenshore Pavilion on April 12. Tickets for the affair which are always scarce may be obtained from Winston Mushcett at 668-2771, George Hobin at 668-8057, Bill Puchalski at 728-5863 or the office of the Whitby Recreation Department. The Brooklin - Whitby McDonalds Major Midget All- stars were eliminated fron further playoff action by Ajax Legion 3-0. In the first game, played in Ajax, the home tean won 7-4. George McFadden spear- headed the Ajax attack with three goals. Steve Cole scored two and Terry Robert- son and Terry Murphy one each. Marty Gallas, Richard Pigeau, Glenn Johnstone and Mark Niller each scored sin- gles for the McDonalds. Ajax posted an even more impressive 7-2 victory when the two teams met at Iro- quois Park Arena in Whitby. THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF WHITBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. Section 14 of By-law Number 1784 is hereby deleted and the following substituated there- fore; 14 ""VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES Every person who uses any lot, or erects or uses any building or structufe or any part of any lot, building or structure in a manner contrary to any requirement of this By-law, or who causes or permits such use or erection, or who violates any provision of this By-law or causes or permits a violation, shall be guilty of an offence punishable on summary convic- tion and upon conviction therefore shaîl forfeit and pay a penalty not exceeding One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) exclusive of costs for each such offence and every such penalty shall be recover- able under the Municipal Act and the Summary Convictions Act." 2. This By-law shall come into force on the date it is passed by the Council of the Town of Whitby subject to the approval of the Ontario Municipal Board. Richard Byford and Lloyd Connors replied for the hosts. The two teams totally ig- nored defensive play in the third game, which saw host Ajax win 12-10. Joey McFadden scored four times to lead Ajax while The Brooklin - Whitby McDonalds Major Bantam Allstars lead 1-0 in their best of three group final against Bay Ridges as a result of a 10-3 victory. Dave Seymour led the host winners-with a hattrick The Brooklin-Whitby Can- adian Tire Minor Midget All- stars were recently eliminated from further playoff action 3-1 by Ajax. In what proved to be the final gaine of the series, both Terry Murphy and Steve Cole each tallied a pair. Mark Ariss, Terry Robertson, Jeff Wood and Kirk Cairns con- tributed singles. Joey McIntyre notched four markers for the McDon- alds and Marty Gallas scored twice. Mark Millar, Lloyd Conners, Glenn Johnstone and John Jordan picked up one goal each. Blades Finish With Impressîve Record The season is over for the Whiîtby Winvalley Blades girls hockey team and what a season it was. The Blades recorded 12 wins, two ties and only two losses for a total of 26 points. Their only two defeats carne on the road as the Blades were unbeatable at home. Whitby finished ils season off with a nine game unde- feated streak with eight wins and one tic. This indicates that the Blades will be tough to beat in the playoffs. In the team's final games, they defeated Peterborough 9-0 with three goals in each period. Gail Ravary led the way with five goals and one assist. Lois Pitre, Barb Boyes and Karen Moloney closed out the scoring. Goaltender Patti Under- wood finished the season with an average of 1.34 goals against per game, lowest, in the league. A toms Lead Cobourg The Brooklin - Whitby Brooklin Concrete Major Atom Allstars lead Cobourg 1-0 in their first playoff round. The first game played at Brooklin ended in a 6-1 vic- tory for the home tean. Paul Rich and Dan Middle- ton each scored twice while Charlie Mason and Dan Gar- rard picked up singles. Charlie Black scored the losers' only goal. while Nick Fisher scored a pair. Nick Nosowenko, Rick Nieuwendyk, Dale Sawyer, Randy Gallas and -Rick Kay scored singles. James McGill scored twice for the losers while Chris Littlemore notched a single. teams played excellent defen- sive hockey. However, Ajax' defence was one notch better as they won 1-0.
