I gather that somne of you feit that you were no better off after the meeting than before. But don't be disheartened. Maybe you didn't iearn too muxh, but i have the feeling that Mr. Rurnr and some memnbers of Council tearnt something..that is that the people of the North WArd, are concerned about and interested in their community. 1 hope that you keep that interest in the tirnes ahead, if and when other meetings' of concern to the North Ward are hetd. You could start by marking down the l7th March, the night that council meets to decide whether to accept the offer mnade by Mr. Rumm. How about having as large a turn out at Council chambers on that night as we had up here? You can do it. Unfortunately the Lib. Winter Fun Day had to be can- cetled due to the weather conditions. And another affair that, 1 had mentioned in the cotumn has also had to be postponed, this time due to the mail difficulties. This was the Ontario Humane Society's Giant Auction and Bazaar which wvas due to be held iast week. The new dates for the Auction, which is to be hetd at the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto, are Aprl l6th and i 7th. The Society still appeats to the public for donations of any goods that can be auc- tioned. As tie new dates aren't until April, you have Urne now when Spring Cleaning (yes! lt's coîning up to that Urne again!) to calti te Whitby Branch, 5 79-059 1, and ask thern to cart away ail those desirabie items that you wish to be rid of. As Saturday, 8th March, is the second Saturday of the month, we can once again bundie up our papers and leave them out for those young men that run around the North Ward on that day, picking them up as quickly as they can. 1 amn, of course, referring to the lst and 2nd Brooklin cubs. This group is hoping to set off for a weekend at Niagara in May. To help raise the funds they are collecting return- able bottles and wire coat hangers, fromn those generous people who, wil let them. This collection will be made on the same day March 8th. Ail it means is that there will be two trucks doing the rounds at each home, instcad of one. Please help them out if you can. Brooklin Kinoven Rebekah Lodge wiil be holding a St. Patrick's euchre party on March 14th, a Friday. The event will start at 8 p.m. at the Oddfellows Hail.* Lunch and prizes are provided and the public is asked to attend You may eithcr get tickets from members or buy them at the door. -The first Saturday in June isn't that far away..particu- larty if you are involved in any part of the organization for the Brooklin Spring Fair. Ladies of Group 74 who organ- ized the parade tast year, are once again becoming involved In the major and minor details that make up the event. For' those of you ln the area..x .. or out of it for thatmatter .. that are interested ln> entering a float this «year, but didn't iast year, then you may like to cait Mrg.-Catherwood, 655- 3646, or Mrs. Strzelcyk at 655-3806 and let' themn heaç from you.
