Sitting around the cot- tage, or camping in that great wilderness, or going to another part of ihe world. But there should be one more thing on your mind,' and that is your regular blood donation. Vou probably forgot about it. Thousands of -people, just like you, go away on iheir vacations during the summer monihs and forget to give blood. Because of this time of year, highway traffic încreases greatly, and with it the number of accidents. The Red Cross reminds you that ibis increases thie need for blood in ail the over 185 hospitals the Red Cross in Ontario supplies free. The Provincial daily requirement is 1,500 units. For the mnonths of July and August 93,000 units are needed. It only takes 30 minutes of the donor's time to to give blood, wiih thie actual donation time îaking 5 minutes. The remainder of the time is occupied by taking a brief medical history of the donor, performing simple tests, a short rest period and some refreshments. Vacation time takes a heavy toll on the Red Cross blood supplies. At a trne when the need is highest, supplies are lowest. Before you go on your vacation, attend your local Red Cross blood donor clinic - someone wiIl be happy you did. Dear Sir; Despite a temptation, to say 1 told you so, I feel sympathy* for the trusting soulIs Who trusted spokesmen for the government of 'NlIi- am Davis, and apparently got ripped off over land deals in North Pickering. These people, of course, violated the first rule of survival in the business world - neyer trade horses wîth a tory - but îhey can hardly be bîamed.for being naive. Social Credit has been the only Ontario political party consistently chaI- Ienging the stupidity of putting a city of 90,000 to 120,000 right on the Metro border. The most sensible sug- gestion I have heard 50 far regarding the North Pickering Community, camne from one of my party memnbers, Bruoe Arnold of Oshawa, who told thé, ast annual meet- ing of the Oshawa- Whitby Social Planning Council that the whole thing should be moved 500 miles norih to around Geraldton. That is not why I wrote to you, however. The purpose of ibis letter is 10 assure you and your readers that Social Credit will have a ~. candidate in Durham West ai the next provin- cial election. During recent informai visits to your riding 1 have had conversations with party members in the riding. These have been followed up for me by Mr. Arnold in Oshawa, and he assures me that there are credible people write:. let te rs box 206 whitby willing to run candidates there. One or more of these members will be making their own announcement regarding their intention to seek the nomination, when they feel the timne is right;. We do not plan to' interrupt peoplers sumn- mer vacations with much politics. In faci the only summer activity 1 have planned is the party's annual. picnic in Lake- view Park, Oshawa, on July 19. Besides, .1 figure every time the Davis-Lewis- Nixon old party triplets open their mouths ihey lose more votes. If I can keep themn talking long enough Social Credit is bound to win.
