Thc convenors of the group, Ray Bergstrom and Theo Gerrits, did an outstand- ing job supervising the nine clubs' through their sixteen game regular sehedule and their round-robin playoff series. At the end of the regular schedule the league was broken Up into three divisions for the playoffs. In division "A", Broolin Aluminumn, the league leaders were hooked Up with Gus Brown Motors who ended in second spot and Dupont who were third place finishers. In the playoffs Gus Brown defeated Dupont 24-21 and then went on to take "A" honours with a 33-31 tri- umph over Brooklin Alumi- num. In series "B", McNamara Marine, fourth place finishers, were pitted against Pete the Plumber in the fifth slot and Van Stavern Garden Centre who ended up sW~th in regular play. In the' playdowns MacNamara came out on top by defeating Pete the Plum- ber 25-18 and winning out over Van Stavern 17-16 in a tight final. In the "C" group were Nurse Chev-OIds, who were in- the seventh spot in the P04406 AOVANCE POILS. McNamara finished fourth with fine wifls, two ties and' five losses for 20 points. Pete the Plumber ended the year with 17 points on seven wins, three ties and six losses. Van Staveren wound up in sixth spot with six wins, three ties and seven losses for 15 points. Nurse Chev-Olds and Dairy Qucen tied for seventh spot as they recorded identi- cal records of four wins, one tie and I11 losses for nine poin t'S. Staffords ended the season n the cellar with seven points on three wins', one tie and 12 osses. Television celebrity w*Il be at plowing matches Marg Osburne, television star of the CBC series "Don Messer's Jubilee", wiil head- line the entertainiment under the Massey-Ferguson "Big Top" at the International, Canadian and World Plowing matches, being held near Brooklin September 23 to 27. Also appearing will be Elmer HohI. four-time world horseshoe pitching champion, who returns to the Massey display for the third year in a row. Shows will be hield each aftemoon, alternating be- tween Marg Osburne and Elmer Hohi. Cartwright -McCullough Diane Lynne' McCullough, daughter of Frank and Isabelle McCullough, of Whitby, became the bride of Gregory John Cartwright, son of Horace and Lillian Cart- wright of Brooklin on Saturday, August 3Oth. The cere- mony was held in the Grace Chapel of the Ontario Ladies College. The maid of honlour was Jayne McCullough, the bride's sister. The bridesmaids were Mrs. JoAnne Young of Holyrood, Miss Kathleen Cartwright of Brooklin, and Miss Julie Emm of Ashburn.
