Platoon Chiief Corner secs two major achievements of 1975 as placing Whitby in a goôd position for hiigh honors in tie contest again this year. During 1975 the Whitby ire departrnent added a water tank truck and two pumpers to its equipment, and parti- cipated in parades at Whitby, Bowmanvillc, Uxbridgc, and Thorold. IL also presented fire prevention displays at the World Plowing Match and County Town Carnivai trade fair. The Junior Fire Department prograni was attended by 160 local youngsters, adn added a demonstration of grease fires to iLs activities. Fifty people graduated frorn the aduit fire prevention course, and 1 20 people attended a St. John Ambulance first aid couïse sponsored by die fic dCl)a r tme nt.,, Thuis ycar, the Whitby Fire Departmient increascd its involvernent in the com- munity with speeches to ser- vice clubs, and school classes [romn as far away as Cobourg and Haliburton toured the fic hall.
