It is the Steve Porters who keep mninor sports going. Mr. Porter served as vice- president and publicity chairmnan of the B.W.M..NH.A. during the past season. In his capacity as vice- president, he attended the association's monthly execu- tive Meetings filling in when president Bill Edwards was absent and was "available for any job that camne up". As publicity chairmnan, he saw to it that the three area newspapers (the Free Press included), two radio stations and one television station were kept up to date on the action, compilinggamne resuits and statistics and providing informnation, on upco Ming happenings. He also did the play-by-play commentary on several con- tests fo r the television station. "It was a seven-day a week job", says Mr. Porter. "If 'm not at games or at practices, I'm answering calîs or writing out statistics". "l'ni very fortunate my wife Mary appreciatés al these things and doesn't inid really", he says. "Juist after we ý stili addicted and both have played in the B.W.M.H.A. for several years. Now that the hockey season is over, what are the Porters going to do? Well, it seerns they love ý warm weather sports as well. Steve has done publicity for the Whitby Minor Soccer Association, both boys play the game and Mary loves to watch. They are also avid - ~lacrosse followers.
