The closest meeting 10 Wlîitby will be held in the Oshawa Council Chambers June 8 at 8 p.rn. A district health counicil would be an advisory body 10 the Ministry of Health in the area of haalth care plan- ning and would have several broad responsibilities. Anîong these are the identification of regional heaith care needs and con- sideration of alternative methods of meeting those needs that are consistent with provincial guidelines. The district health counicil can plan a comprehiensive health care program and establishi short-term priorities that are consistent with long- terni goals, consider ail health services to ensure a balanced effective and economical service for the region, and C work toward co-operation in the social developnîent activi- tics of the region.
