The Ontario Municipal Board may approve of the said By-law but before doing so it may appoint a time and place when any objection to the By-law will be considered. THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF W4ITBY BY-LAW NUMBER 306-75 BEING A BY-LAW TO AMEND ZONING BY-LAW NO. 2585 WHEREAS the Corporation of the Town of Whitby deems it advisable to amend By-law No. 2585. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED and it is hereby enacted as a By-law of the Corporation of the Town of Whitby by the Council thereof as follows: - 1. That paragraph (d) of Section 6, sub-section (7) of By-law No. 2585 is hereby repealed and replaced by the following:- "6 (7) (d) The provisions of paragraph (a) of said subsection (7) shall not apply to:- (i) any lots or blocks fronting upon any of the streets on the following registered Plans f Subdivision namely:- Plan M-926, Plan M-927, Plan M-928, Plan M-958, Plan M-1005 and Plan M-1013; (ii) any lots or blocks fronting on a cul-de-sac street having a minimum width of at least 60 feet and laid out and established on any Plan of Subdivision registered on or after January lst, 1975. 2. This by-law shall come into force on the date it is passed by the Council of the Townof Whitby subject to approval of The Ontario Municipal Board. It should be noted that there is no change of zoning on any of this lands. 2. To allow for the development of any lots or blocks fronting on a cul-de-sac having a minimum width of 60 feet laid out and established on any Plan of Subdivision registered on or after January. 1, 1975. Telephone: (416) 655-3346 M 26, J 2, 76 Homecoming weekendJune Il to 13 as St. Mark's celebrates 150 years Celebration 150, the year long observance of the 150th Anniversary of the congrega- tion of St. Mark's United Church will be highlighted by a Homecoming Weekend on June il, 12and13. The result of several months of intensive prepara- tion, the festive three-day event is expected to attract former members of the con- gregation from many distant points. The response to the invita- tions sent out to ail parts of Canada inviting former resi- dents to join with present members in the celebration, indicates that a large number will be present for ail the various events which have been lined up for the enjoy- ment of young and old. Registration begins Friday evening, June I I at the Church :nd will feature a variety show M.C.'d by Neil Murkar which will be presented by the Marksmen, the male mem- bers of the St. Mark's choir who will move away from their usual type of music to "barbershop"; a trio of Eleanor Davis, Marilyn Broughton and Gwen Oliver who have some comedy surprises in store; Eileen Bath at the Honky-Tonk piano and a sing along with Marion Williams. The Church hall will be decorated in the stvle of an old fashioned ice-cream parlour and penny candy, pre-inflation 5 cents ice-cream cones, lemonade, coffee and sandwiches will be ser ed to the weary travellers and ail who join in. It is expected that many of the crowd will be in old fashioned costume taken from many of the eras of the 150 year old congregation. During the weekend there will be an interesting display of . Canadiana with rooms furnished with genuine period pieces supplied by members and friends of the Church. There will also be an impres- sive display of articles and pictures associated with St. Mark's over the years. Several hundred slides have been edited and a collection of the best showing St. Mark's activities and people will be presented in a continuous showing. On Saturday at 10 a.m. the whole community is invited to the Church for a coffee party to enjoy a cup of coffee and hot muffins made on the spot, and to meet with old friends and to share in the celebration. There will be pony rides, games and a fish pond at all very little cost throughout the morning and the St. Mark's Express, which in its usual colours is the Lions Club of Whitby Train about Town during the County Town Carnival, has been made available for sight-seeing tours from Il a.m. until 4 p.m. The tours lasting approximately an hour will give those who have been away from Whitby for some time, an opportunity to see some of the many changes in the community in the past few years. A "sidewalk cafe" area will be located on the west side of the Church where people will be able to chat and renew old acquaintances and enjoy refreshm-nts, throughout the afternoon. At 6:30 p.m. one of the highlights of the weekend will take place when the Celebra- tion 150 banquet takes place at the Ontario Ladies College, which has had a strong link with St. Mark's and the United Church of Canada for much of its history. The banquet, expected to attract a capacity gathering of 400 is the start of an evening which will later shift to the Church where there will be old-tyme square dancing, cards and other entertainment. On Sunday morning there will be a special Worship Service with Holy Communion with several former ministers taking part. The service will feature special music by a massed choir composed of the present choir augmented by former members who have been extended a. special invitation to return. Following the service there will be a final get- together with a massive birthday cake to commem- orate the occasion. The Auld Lang Syne of the final moments will be memorable since the next celebration of this kind for St. Mark's will take place on the 200th anniversary in 2026. Fire dept. dance June.12 The Whitby Fire Depart- ment is holding a 125th anniversary dance at Heyden- shore Pavilion, June 12, starting at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the main fire hall, 201 Brock Street South. Public Meeting Proposed Darlington Generating Station 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 Lion s Centre Beech Avenue Bowmanville The purpose of this meeting is to review and discuss Ontario Hydro's proposal to construct a nuclear generating station near Bowmanville. A final proposal on the project is being prepared for the consideration of the Minister of Energy. You are invited to attend this meeting and submit your comments.
