Phase I construction will be from Highway 2 to Forrest Road. Phase 2, financed by a $8,417 federal grant, will be from Westwood Crescent to Rossland Road West, in Whitby. The sewage facilities will service future residential and industi·ial areas in the nunicipality. The loan is provided under provisions of the National Housing Act for a term of 15 years at an interest rate of 10 ½2 per cent. Smoking , causes $25,000 f ire Car2less smoking resulted in $25,000 damage to a Scott Street home early Friday mornng. Fourteen members of the Whitby Fire Department were called out at 5:04 a.m. Friday to the residence of Ron Williams, 51 Scott Street, where a fire had broken out in a chesterfield. Chief Ed Crouch said a basement recreation room was gutted, and there was extensive smoke damage to the main floor of the house. Damage - amounted to $15,000 to the building and $10,000 to the contents, he said. Mr. Williams, his son and daughter, and a visitor escaped unharmed.
