Jointly sponsored by the Whitby YMCA and the Whitby Recreation Department, this annual event is one of the highlights of the carnival. Six major events are held for ages six to 17 swinming against timne. Six and seven year olds who can swim the length of the sinail children's pool in 30 seconds will win red ribbons. Eight year olds must swim the width of the large pool in 35 seconds or better to win a red ribbon or if they eau do it iii 30 seconds will earn a blue ribbon. Children aged nine and 10 swim one length, il & 12, 13 & 14, 15 to 17, each swim two lengths against the time limits listed. Al corn .,titors will receive a County Town Carnival Crest. Entry fees will be charged. The tournamnent draw will be made Friday night and competitors can get their schedules at Peel Park after 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The juniors, ages nine to by Friday 13, and intermediates, ages 14 to 17, will play at Hutchison Park on Saturday and Sunday. The aduit tournamnent will get underway at Peel Park at 9 a.m. Saturday and will include ladies' and men's singles, doubles and mixed, doubles. The tournament continues until Monday.
