The miuseum was created by Jeff Clark, whose garage was used, and his friend Jimnmy Moon after Jimmy and another friend, Sean Boyes, saw the movie Sink The Bismark, last winter. A number of friends joined in until five boys and one girl were involved in the project. The children spent four to five months doing research for- their. museum, taking books out of the library, reading them and tracing pictures of them. Amnong themn, they spent ,à total of $40 to $50 on -airpiane and battleship models, and everi managed to obtain somne authentic Second World War relics. The authentic relies in- cluded British, Canadian and American helmets, a blue beret from the First Hussars, and eight uniform badges. .During the summer the children covered the walls of the Clark garage with pic tures from magazines and drawings thev made from nictures in books. On one occasion, Jirnmy Moon went to a local doctof to get alergy shots, and tore a war picture out of one of the magazines in the office. The war musé'um idea prompted the childiren to see the currently popular movie Midway, about the Battie of Midway in the Second World War, and they obtained as much information as they could on wars and weaponsof the '2Uth century. Debbie Moon, Jimmy's sister, namned the project, "The World of War Museum", and it opened its doors for a one-day neighborhood show- ing Thursday. 1About 60 children visited the war Museum free -of charge and were served cold drinks and popcorn.
