The department would like to study the effects of the parking ban on Brock Street before possibly installing additional signal lights on Brock at Dunlop Street, Burns Street and Manning Road. However, the downtown business people have formally expressed opposition to the propose% paiking ban. In a recent letter to town council, Linda Russell, Presi- dent of the Whitby Down- town Business and Professional Association, wrote "On behalf of the members of the Whitby Downtown Business and Professional Association, I would like to express.our opposition to the 4:30 to 6 p.m. ban on parking on Brock Street between Dunlop and Mary Streets". "As a group of concerned businessmen ·we feel this would be very detrimental to business in the downtown as a large percentage of business is transacted in between the hours of 4:30 and 6 p.m. by people who are on their way home from work", said Mrs. Russell. Director of Public Works Dick Kuwahara is looking into the matter and will report to council'soperations committee in the future. **ee*9ee@eee@eeOe..@O.......
