PAGE 10, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16,1977, WHITBY FREE PRESS John Vickery dies at 78 John Wesley Vickery, a life-long resident of Whitby, died, at Fairview Lodge Feb. 17 at the age of 78. Son of the late John J. Vickery and Louise (Thomp- son) Vickery, he was born at Whitby and educated at' Whitby Public Schools. Mr. Vickery was a. graduate in electrical contracting fromn business in Whitby. He retired about five years ago. Mr. Vickery was a member of Composite Lodge No. 30 AF and AM, a former membe r of the Whitby Rotary Club, and a charter member of the Dr. J. O. Ruddy General Hospital., He was also a warden at AIl Saints' Anglican Church. On Jan. 1, 1929, he married Gwendolyn May Agg, at Ail Saints' Church, who predeceased hlm. Mr. Vickery is survived by one son, John R. Vickery, a step-son, Herbert Wright, and two daughters, Mrs. C. Burns (Dawn), and Mrs. L. Mowat, (Gail). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A private service was con- ducted at the W. C. Town Funeral Chapel by Rev. J. A. Roney of AIl Saints' Church, to be followed by interment in Grovesîde Cemetery. Pearl Richardson dies at 63, Pearl Richardson, 63, of 801 Dundas St. W., died Feb. 25. Daughter of the late James and Martha Gilliland, she was born in Lame County, Ireland. Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband Gilbert J. Richardson, one daughter, Mrs. James Petherick (Jean) of Campbellford, -and a brother and sister, Mrs. W. Hogg and James Gilliland, of Toronto. She is also survived by two grandchildren. 1The funeral was conducted at W. C. Town Funeral Chapel by Rev. John Smith of St. Mark's United Church, follow- ed by interment in Mount According to an investiga- tion by the Whitby Fire Department, propane heaters used to keep frost out of the basement of the house ignited straw on the floor and the resulting fire burned the rubber line connecting the heaters to two tanks of pro- pane gas. The tanks exploded during the blaze. No word has been received yet from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office, regard- ing its investigation into the Pal-O-Pak fire of Feb. 23.
