Albert Henry Lear dies at, 78 AlbertlHcnry Leur, a First Worlcl Wur veteran and ai resident of Wliitby f'or 55 yeurs, died March 22 ut the Oshawa Gene rai I lospitll t tlhe age of 78. lie resided ut 21 6 Burns St. W. Mr. Leur was born Murch 11l, 1899 in Plymnouth, Devonshire, Fingland, son of Edward Leur and Thirza Laurie. H e nmarried Rita May Cornail, Jan. 22, 1921 ut Kingstcighnton, Devonshire. After coming to Whitby, Mr. Leur was einployed for 30 years ut the King Brothers l'aimery and 15 yeurs at the Whitby LCBO store. He had been retired I10 years ut the tine of his death. He was a member of Br-arch I12 of the Royal Canadian Legion for 45 years, having served in the Dorset Regiment with (lie British Expedition- ury Force in the First Worid Wur. During the war he was wounded in action. Mr. Lear was a rnenber of AUl Saints' Anglican Church where he served as u'sidesmian from 1929 to 1976. Fie wus also envelope secretary for a numrber of years, and a cliich warri n 1931and 1 948 to 10<52 incelusive. fie is survived by his wife, the former Rita May Cornait; one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Mary Vann; two brothers, Reginald of Toronto,. and Charles of Sudbury; and one sister, Mrs. Violet Speirs of Sudbury'. Mr. Lear is also survived by three grand- children, Mrs. P. Sissaris (Jane), Patricia and Margaret. The funeral was held March 25 at Ail Saints'Church, the service being conducted by Rev. J. A. Roney, and followed by cremnation. If desired, contributions to the Canadian Heart Fond would be appreciated. The Town ot Whitby has set up receptacles at the centre where resource and pollution conscious citizens of Whitby can bring these waste materials. The citizens of Whitby are u rged to respond to this program and take the time and effort to bring their bqttles (washed and de-labeled) and their cans (cleaned, de-labeled and f lattened) to the recycling area. These materials will be taken to the reclamation centre for reuse.
