United Churcli Saturday. The Whitby Rotary Club and the Towvn's recreation departmnent are working on a joint project to develop Centennial Park. Landscape architects have been invited to submit propo- sais for the development of the park, a major comrnunity project to be paid for by the Rotary Club. Tentative proposais are to creatè a park comnbining a high per centage passive area with î low percentage children's play area. Facilities to, be considered The Central Region covers an area from North Bay and Sault Ste Marie to the shore of Lake Ontario. Students learn the job of the town councl Once again, students from Whitby's high schools are participating in a Youth and Civic Administration program, which enables themn to learn the duties of the town councillors and staff. Students ' from Henry Street High School, Anderson Collegiate, Denis O'Connor High School and the Ontario Ladies' College are taking part in the program. For the next two months the students will be working closely with their counter- parts on the council and staff, learning their various func- tions. On May 30 at 8 p.m. they will hold a mock counicil meeting in the municipal building. The following students are playing the parts of members of' counicil: Linda Noble, Mayor Gartshore; Fred Horne, Councillor Attersley; Fiona Morton, Councillor Carson; Darren Vine, Council- lor Drumm; Colin Mcllwain. Councillor Edwards; Tracie Grieve, Councillor Ernm; and Jim Vandenenden, Councillor Tho mpson. Playing the parts of regional councillors are: Bill Pengelly, Mayor Gartshore; Coleen Keenan, Councillor Emmn; and, Pat King, Councillor Thomnpson. Southwell, clerk- administrator; Mary Birta, deputy clerk, Linda Brough, co-ordinator of development; Doug Eberlee, director of plan. ning; Linda Robertson, director of public works; Christine Murray, director of recreation; Erika Rozinka, fire chief; Doug Campbell, treasurer; and Jody Elliott, purchasing agent.
