WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 1977, PAGE 13 Theatre Company gels fur nominations at ACT awards The Whitby Theatre Conpany made a good show- ing in the recent ACT awards presentation, held at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Although the company did flot win any awards, it received several nominations for its play, the Gingerbread Lady, which was staged at the Centennial Building in Februarv. The play was one of the four nominated as best play, John Caldwell was nominated as best director, Gail Cheyne as best actress, and Terry Stewart as best supporting actor. lt was a special honor for Mr. Stewart, for it was only his second time on stage and his first sizable role. Paul Spencer, executive producer of the Whitby Theatre Company, wvas awarded an ACT President's seroil for his outstanding contribution to the company's festival entry, which was adjudicated Feb. 4. ACT is the Association for * '-14 JAYCETTES PROMOTE BLOCK PARENTS These Kindergarten chîldren from West Lynde Public Sehool are looking at a display of posters promoting Block Parent program in Whitby. The posters were co-ordinated by -the Whitby Jaycettes in co-operation with the Durhamn Board of Education as a public service project. Pupils from Kindergarten to Grade Three participated in the Block Parent poster project.
