The home fire inspection program begins the week of May 30, and continues tili the end of September as part of the Whitby Fire Department's fire prevention program. For the seventheonsecutive year the Whitby Fire Departmientis conducting its annual homne fire inspection programn this summirer. Starting the week of May 30, members of the fire depart- ment will be visiting homes in town to inspeet basements for possible fire hazards. The prograrn will start in the west end of town and xviii continue until the end of Septernber ini the afternoons and early evenings. The progrgin is strictly voluntary and ilo one lias to let the fire inspection team into their home, but it i§ for their benefit, says Platoon Chief Ken Corner. -- Members of the inspection teamn wilI leave literature on home fire safety, and will conduct a survey to see how many homes are equipped with srnoke detectors.
