DOC girls are LOSSA The DOC Charters, a girls' soccer teani froni Denis O'Connior High School, won the LOSSA girls' soccer championship at G. L. Roberts Collegiate in Oshawa, June 1. Seven area schools parti- cipated in a girls' soccer leagte for the first tinte this year, with Denis O'Connor comning out the winner. The other sehools were G. L. Roberts, Donovan Collegiate, McLaugh- lin Collegiate and Eastdale Collegiate in Oshawa, Clarke High School in Orono, and Anderson Collegiate in Whitby.- Each team played every one of the other teains-twice during the regular season, and soce this was iollowed by sîingle eliiîation playoffs, leaving only Denis O'Connor and G. L. Roberts tandefeated. From May to September each citizen is asked, vhever possible, to rid his property of such possible hazards as: 1. stagnant pools of ground water through drainage and f ili 2. ground depressions througli f il and levelling 3. stagnant water collected on fiat roof s and in eavestroughs through sweepîng or f lu shing 4. stagnation in wading pools, orriamental ponds and birdbaths through emptying or flushing every three days 5. refuse and debris (e.g. old cans, pots, tires, etc.) that may collect even the SMALLEST AMOUNTS 0 F STAG NANT WATER. It is stressed that the mosquito commonly bi-ý,ing man is not the Culex but the Aedes variety which is flot known to carry diseuse and is considered a nuisance only. Nevertheless, citizens should be aware of the potential danger of the Culex mosquito and reduce its numbers through such measures as suggested.
