The iiight had a Parisian setting, with a painting denionstration by Peter VanGils and folk singing by Penny Sidor. In Novemiber, 40 nibers oured the Pollack Galleries in Toronto, and in December Whitby Arts sponsored "Androcles and the Lion", a play by a Toronto theatre group, at Henry Street High Sehool. 1969 The year opened with a wine and cheese party and exhibition of works by Laurine Sage at the Centennial Building. This was followed by a pro- grani of exhibiting works by local artists in the miunicipal building on a regular basis. Twenty-five local artists displayed 70 wvorks during February, and a series of illuistra ted lectures were begun at the Centennial Building. In May, Whitby Arts held its second annual three-day, "Visual Arts" show. More than 700 people attended and more events were to corne, such as the East Central Ontario Art Associa- tion's exhibition at the town hall, and an exhibit of paint- ings of Whitby landmnarks in connection xvitLh the first \Vhitby-Longueuil twinning.
