NOTICE ;S HEREBY GIVEN that application has been made for approval to expropriate 1. the lands described in Schedule "A" hereto for the purposes of altering and widening the East and West sides of Brock Street North to provide for an underpass beneath the Canadian Pacific Railwav line from the intersec- tion of Maple and Brock Streets to the Northerly limit of Lot 6, Register- ed Plan No. 173, in the Town of Whitby. Any owner of lands in respect of which notice is given who desires an inquiry into whether the taking of such land is fair, sound and reasonably necessary in the achievement of the objectives of the expropriating authority shall so notify the approving authority in writing, (a) in the case of a registered owner, served personally or by registered mail within thirty days after he is served with the notice, or when he is served by publication, within thirty days after the first publication of the notice; (b) in the case of an owner who is not a registered owner, within thirty days after the first publication of the notice. Part of Lot 6, on Registered Plan No. 173, in the Town of Whitby, designated as Part 1 on a Plan of Survey as prepared by HORTON & WALLACE, O. L. S., being Project No. 10601-B and signed by Bryon T. Davies, O. L. S. and dated the 23rd day of June, 1977. The interest to be acquired in this property is a temporary easement or a right in the nature of an easement to enter upon, cut into, break up, fill in, and occupy the property !or and during the construction of the underpass on Brock Street North. For the purpose of and during the construction of the underpass on Brock Street North, the property is to remain undisturbed by any work which might interfere with such construction, and clear of and unencumbered by buildings or structures other than those erected at the date of acquisition of the easements. Upon completion of the construction of the underpass the surface of the property will be restored as ne'rly as reasonably possible to its previous condition and the temporary easement will be extinguished or expire and the property will revert back to the owner. Here 's what ' A fair with food, enter- tainment and the traditional tartan will be staged during the County Town Carnival by the Canadian Scottish Club, in Whitney Hall at the Iroquois Park Arena. The Canadian Scottish Club pavilion is open July 22 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., July 23 from 2 p.m. to 1 a.n. and July 25 to 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Visitors to the Chamber of Commerce trade fair in the arena July 25 to 27 are reminded to drop into the Scottish Club pavilion when they make their stop at the trade fair. The Scottish Club pavilion was a popular new event at the carnival last year, and pro- mises to be a success again in 1977. Lacrosse matches Lacrosse fans will have plenty of action to watch during the 1977 County Town Carnival. Senior citizens' activities A number of activities for senior citizens are available at this year's County Town Carnival. Meals Without Wheels will be serving lUnch at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 133 Brock St. N. July 25, 27 and 29 at 11:45 a.m. All seniors are welcome to attend this event, which is sponsored by Whitby Seniors Co-operating. July 28 at 1:30 p.m. a Mammoth Bingo will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, also sponsored by Whitby Seniors Co-operating. July 30 at 8 p.m. a special Carnival Dance will be held at the Seniors' Activity Centre on Brock Street South. Music will be provided by a disc jockey. Everyone is invited to attend, whether or not they are mermbers of the activity centre. $400 prize for Queen Branch 112 of the Royal Canadian Legion has announc- ed the prizes for its Carnival Queen contest, to be held July 17. The queen will receive a cash prize of $400 and each of the two princesses will receive $150. Any girl aged 16 to 21 who is a resident of Whitby, can enter this contest. Bert Heaver will act as master of ceremonies for the contest, and there will be live musical entertaininent. Those intending to attend this event are reminddd that it will be held at Iroquois Park Arena this year, and not Heydenshore Pavilion, as pre- viously The proceedings got under way ai 7:30 p.m. Th'Iere will be painting, weaving, pottery and graphics in the show, and also a children's art activity area. The entire family is invited to cone and participate in this afternoon event. Pyjama dance July 30 The Whitby Fire Depart- ment, through its Professional Fire Fighters Association, has plenty of fun to offer at this year's County Town Carnival. July 29 from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. the Association is sponsoring a dance at the Brooklin arena, with music by disc jockey Don Osborne. July 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. there will be a beer garden in the acena, with entertainment and local talent. Starting at 8:30 p.m. there will be one of the biggest attractions of the carnival, July 20 from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. the Whitby Builders Junior A tean will meet Windsor at the Iroquois Park arena. July 23 at 8:30 p.n. the Senior A Brooklin Redmen will meet the Owen Sound North Stars at the Brooklim Arena. July 30 from 8 p.m. to. 9 p.m. the Whitby Minor Lacrosse Association and the Garrard Road Minor Lacrosse Association will be holding a Bantam A tournament at the Peel Park lacrosse box. In case of rain, this tournament will be held at the Ajax Arena. Aug. 1 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. the Whitby Minor Lacrosse Association will hold a Pee Wee Tournament at Peel Park. In case of rain, this event will move to the Brooklin arena. Baseball July 17 at 5:30 p.m. the Whitby-Oshawa Midget base- ball tournament will be held at Iroquois Park to open the County Town Carnival cele- brations. Baseball fans are invited to attend, and note the new location for this tournament. Las Vegas Night Open House at the Station, a Las Vegas Night, and an outdoor art fair are all part of Whitby Arts' contribution to the 1977 County Town Carnival. A summer exhibition and open house will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 23 and 24, and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 25 to July 31, at the Station Gallery on Victoria Street. Las Vegas Night, with games of chance, entertain- k ment, disco music, and refresh- ments will be July 23 from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Station. Admission is $1 per t person, ages 18 and over. The fourth annual Outdoor Art Fair will be held on the Station lawn July 30 and 31 from noon to 5 p.m., featur- ing arts and crafts displays l and sale.
