PAGE 8, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17,1977, WHITBY FREE PRESS Royal introduces TV Bankingi Television banking, the first installation of its kind in Canada, is coming to The Royal Bank. To be known as TV Banking, the system will involve a closed-circuit link between customners in the bank and a teller located elsewhere in the building. The first installation is scheduled to go into pperation' in Toronto September 29 at the Royal Bank Plaza, the new Ontario regional head- quarters for the bank. Here's how TV Banking works: The customner and teller will be able to see each other via closed-circuit television. Each of the seven customer stations in the branch will have a teller cal button, a television mnonitor on which the teller may be seen, a telephone handset so the customer may speak to the teller in private, a camera to transmit the customner' s image to the teller, and a tray for the carrier capsule. The TV Banking stations will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., several hours before and after the usual banking day. Geoff Styles, Royal Bank general manager for Metro Toronoto, said: "We've' been looking at the poss- ibility of using TV Banking for some tione now.
