In theïr first ganie of the, tourney played in Paris the Dunedins carne p against Port Elgin and although a balîgame is neyer over until the last man is out it seemied airnost certain early in the gaine the Dunedins were going to dispose of the Port Elgin club handily. In the first inning the Duniedins put together se'en hits and camne out of the inning with a five run lead. In the third they added four more to go in front 9-0. In the bottomn of the third Port Elgin scored a pair, but neyer threatened seriously. Whitby added two in the sixth and another pair in the ninth for their 14-4 win. The Dunedins sent a parade of pitchers to the rnound, thinking that later in the day they would be plying their second gamne, which as things turne'd out neyer did corne off. With a win in their first gamne, the Dunedins were to play Oakville but the Oakville club defaulted and failed to appear, forcing Whitby to journey back to Paris on Sunday for thomr second game, of the double knockout affair.
