I arn pleased to announce that the 1978 water and sewer rate is being held to ils 1977 level in the town of Whitby.This is possible because reserve funds accumulated from previous years will be applied to the regional rate. Also a better method of custo mer billing handleing is being implernented tu cut down the delay in respondinz to customer inquiries. A concern which1 have relates to the growing difference between the residential and commercial industrial assessment within the town and region. A close eye mnust be kept on this important miatter. The province has given a large amnount of monvy- to the region 10 promote industry 10 our area. We are weU mbnt the secondary plan study of Brooklin and to make myseif responsible to the taxpayers, the town and the region, 1 have committed myseif to analysing and studying ail the facts and financial implications possible, growing out of such a study, 1 hope within a reasonable amount of timne 10 have the answers s0 1 will be able 10 make somne verv imoortant and far reaching decîsions. The people of Brooklin and Whitby are anxious to know how the impact of growth in Brooklin wiIl effect them over future vear. Next year 1 will again sit on the Finance Committee at theRkegion and wiil also sit on -the Public Works Committee but only as a non- voting mcrnbor.
