Ail members are in- OBITUARIES DONALD BRYANT Donald Joseph Bryant, 840 Dundas Street East, died at the Dr. J.O. Ruddy Hospital Dec. 9 at the age of 69, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Bryant was born at Ashburn, July 20,.1908, the son of Joseph and Harriett Bryant. He was the former owner of Bryant's Taxi and Bryant's new and used car garage. Mr. Bryant served as a memfber of the Town Council in 1953, and was .member of the United Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Quilty, whom he married in 1933 at Oshawa; and seven daughters, Joan of Combermere, Mrs. Edward Sheehan (Dawna) of Toronto; Mrs. William Debosky (Cathy), Manilla; Mrs. Edward Dougherty (Margaret), West Germany; Mrs. Ralphi Stroh (Josephine); Laurie and Nora, of Toronto. He is also survived by three brothers, Sydney of Vauxhaul, Alberta; Walter of Omemee and Ross of Whitby; one sister, Mrs. William Reader (Merle) of Newmarket; and 10 grand- children. The funeral was held Dec. 12 at W. C. Town Funeral Chapel, with Rev. John Smith of St. Mark's United Church conducting the service. Interment fol- lowed in Ashburn Cemetery. MARY WEBB Mary Geraldine Webb, of 120 Cedar Street,an employee for 46 years at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, died of a heart attack at her residence Dec. 9. She xvas 64 years old. Mrs. Webb, was humn May 22, 1913 at Stouffville, the daughter of Nelson and Clessie Byer. She graduated from the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital Schooi of nursing in 1935, and was employed at the hospital since that time. She was a member of the Civil Service Association and the Whithy Baptist Church. Her husband, Frank (Tim) Webb, whom she married at Whitby in 1939, died in 1967. Mrs. Webb is survived by one daughter, Mrs. N. W. Byer(Clessie; one sister,Mrs. Margaret F. Holder of Stouff- Mr. Giroux, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Giroux, was boro at Mattawa, Onitario, Sept. 17, 1914. He was a supervisor at the Whitby Psychiatrîc and North Bay Hospitals for 40 years and a 40-year member of the Civil Service Association. Mr. Giroux was also a mnember of St. John the Evangelist Church, Whitby. In 1937 he rnarried at Whitby, Lola Mabel Varr, who died in 1973. Mr. Giroux is survived by one son Robert; two brothers Johin of Hamilion and Wilfrid of Toronto-, and four sisters, Dorothy, Peggy and Antoinette Giroux, and Mrs. Howard Kane (Adelaide) of Oshawa. He is also survivcd by one grandchild. This morning 1 telephoned my neighbour, and the eail was answered by a sweet, clear voice singing Jingle Belis. What a wonderful way to begin my day: Laurie thought it was her sister calling,a nd was a littie emnbarrassed when she,discovered her error. However, it was a lovcly gesture, sure wlshmore calls could be answered the same way. The snow removal for the Town of Whitby has been fantastic. The weather has not co-operated very well, making the job most difficuit, Comparing our Town to our neighbours to the east .and west, we must consider ourselves most fortunate. Whitby has, by far, thc cleanest streets, the best sanded highways, and the fastest remnoval of snow. Congratulations to our works department. They have done a commendable job.
