One person who can cor- rectly make this daim is Judy Morgan who opened a'flower' store' in the forme r Collins shoe store Feb. 3. Mrs.. Morgan's great grand- father, Mathias W. Collins, moved bis shoe business into the store on Brock' Street in 1892, and the business was later operated by Mathias' son Russell and Russell's sn obh. .Mrs. Morgan's mother, Mis. Claude Taft, is a daughter of the late Russell Collins, and thus. the famnily connection,. Bob Collins, Mis. Morgan's uncle,closed the shoe business in August 1977 after -more than 100 years as'-a faniily operation. The store has taken a new lease on life under the namfe of "Judy's Flowers"'. It is a complete florist shop with fresh flowers for ail occasions, distinctive designs in silk and dried flowers, and flowerîng and green )Ianitç. Mrs. Morgan was born in Oshawa and has ived in Whitby since the age of five. Many ýWhitby residents wiJl remember her as Judy Taft, the Teen Queen of Whitby's Centennial celebrations in 1955. 1She has raised a family. of two boys, and three years ago decided to go into 'business'.
