CRTC Publie Notice 1978- 39 I m~i~laA.vlsIan la kso Street. work delayed II After considerable protest from-residents last year about the construction of Bonacord Ave. from the Otter Creek -subdivision to Cochrane. Street, ]coundil has deferred a decision to extend the road east to join Manning Road. Last September the counicil passed a resolution, to re- consider the extension of Bonacord Avenue., easteiy to Brock. Street. -If approved, the road Would connect with Manning, Road, which will eventually provide a major east-west route t o Adelaide Street in Oshawa. A 1973 transportation study, recommended that an east-west route be created be- tween Dundas Street and Rossland" Road. When thie officiai plan of Whitby 'was adopted *shortly afterwards, Manning, Road, the praposed route for .the east-ýwest artery, was, designated as a minor arterial road, but council later reduced the route from Brock to Cochrane Street to a local road, following objections *from residents at public meetings. The 1976 regional officiai plan recognizes Manning Road as an arterial route from Brock Street in Whitby to Courtice. Now the town's planning departmnent is advocating that the Whitby officiai plan should be amnended to providefor the future extension of Bonacord Avenue to, Brock Street as a minor arterial roirdto Iink, with Manning Road. house gutted A vacant bouse under con- struction on Anderson Street in the Pringle Creek stib- division was gutted by a $12,000- to $14,000 ire at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
