The Ajax-Whitby family of Schools held a competition April 25 at Whitby Senior Public School. In' Junior Placement, Joanne Nimigon of Florenc e Heard School came first; Christine Pleshe of Florence Heard was third, Suzanne Koliard of Palmerston was fourth, Karen Crouse of Palmerston was fifth and Sharon Ross of Florence Heard was sixth. In Intermediate Place- ment, Whitby Senior Public School students Lisa Mussel- man, Sandy Scott, iIi Batherson, Cathy Leipsig and Lynn Warburton placed second to sixth respectively. The Junior and Inter- mediate Durham Regional Gymnastics Finals were held at Anderson Collegiate on April 27. In Intermediate Place- ment, Sandy Scott and Lisa Musselman of Whitby Senior Public School camne second and third respectively. The Redmen opened their 1978 season at the Brooklin, Arena May 6 against the Brampston Excelsiors. The team is entered in a seven- team league, consisting of Brampton, Owen Sound, Fergus, Windsor, Peterbor- ough and Orangeville. Last year the Redmen finished the regular season in third place, only to be defeated in four gamnes straight by the Owen Sound North Stars in the first round of the playoffs. Mr. Vipond, who was player-coach for the Redmen last year, will be taking on only coaching duties this year. He was also a player- coach for the Whitby Iroquois Senior A hockey team.
