Jakes' wife Flora, played by Maureen Green, and Sylva Vicarro, played by Gary Hatton, meet and at Jakes' suggestion they insti- tute the good neighbour policy. In the end tbey ail get a littie business thrown their way. The play is'described as a Mississippi Delta Comedy. It will make you laugh but Mr. Williams has a way with human emotions. When bis wife Caria shows concern and syrnpathy for the plight of a young artist played by Jeff Keller in the sketch, be côunters witb an insensitive put-down. Carla's frustra- tion finally erupts in a brittie confrontation, her attitude leaving the husband par- plexed but only slightly rnoved. "Pictures" is a new work by Paul Spencer, and is representative of a new creative dimension for the Whitby Theatre Company.
