In tbe second gane', Fer- rco defeated the Turpin Spartans of Cincinnati. with two ýgoals by Dave Wilcox and one by Stuart Priest. Exhausted froin the 12-bour bus ride and the beat, Witby let the Spartans get a 2-0 lead at haîf-time, but. made a good comeback in the second. It was a- costly Win for Ferrco as many of the players suffered injuries through fatigue and due to- the very bard ground-. Iný the third gaine, Laurel, Maryland trounced Whitby 8-1, and led 5-1 at haîf-time. Dave Wilcox scored the only Whitby goal. The-American teams were judged to be a better match than Whitby, as they were finishing a winter league sehedule as Whitby was star- ting its summer schedule. The Builders defeated the Forest Park Patriots of Cincinnati 6-2 i the second gaine, with three goals by *Carmfelo Scaffidi, and one each by Frank Priciotta, Robert Longinuir and Fred D'Andrea. In the third gaine, the Builders 'shut out the Mlaniesof Michigan-4-0 with goals by Rickey Wood, Tommy Seheeffer.. Fred D'Andrea and Ed Svetek. Goalie Bobby Sherman got the shut-out. The first goal ws a penalty shot. In the semi-finals, Guild- wood of Toronto defeated the Builders, 3-2 to eliminate thein froin further play. Whitby goals were' by Carmelo.Scaffidi and Frank Princiotta. .Whitby had a one-goal lead until 10 minutes into the *second haif, but - the more experienced Toronto squad took the gaine. MOSQUITO The Crown Industrials represented, Whitby in the Mosquito diviâion. In the first garine the Northern Hill1- Raiders of Cincinnati defeated the Crown industrials 5-2,, with Daryti Musselmran and Robby Dpelong scoring the Whitby' goals., In. the second gaine the Finneytown Flyers of Cincin- nati shut out the Crown Industrial 1-0. In the third gaine, Whitby was defeated 5-2 by the Indian Hill Braves of Cincinnati, with, goals being scored by Brad Beer and Robbie Delong. Whitby was up against stiff competition, the Finneytown Flyers being the Ail Ameni- can champions .0f 1977. Those participating in the tourniament at Cincinnati, ,aid that although Whitby did not win many gaines, the -players -îM'pressed a lot of people and made a lot of friends.
