Free Press Phot o St. Theresa's Sehool has many champions Schiool is closing for1 the summer now, and it is a time for students to take stock of what they have accom- plished'over the past year. .Six students at St. Theresa's Separate School on Crawforth, Street have had a particularly good year, winning prizes for several different activities. Elizabeth Aquilina excelled in public speaking, with her topic being-tele- vision 's popular Gong Show. She won second prize in the preliminary speeches at her sehool, and won first prize at the Royal Canadian Legion public speaking contests in Whitby, Bowmanville and Millbrook. She came second in the Legion finals at Port Hope. Linda Johnston received honorable mention for a poster she entered in an energy conservation contest sponsored by Ontario Hydro. SMichael Van Der Ijeyden won a five-speed bike at the Optirnist Club's bike rodeo June 18 for taking first place in the ages 9 to il category. Chandra Best received an Award of Menit for an essay on "Why I Love Canada." This national contest was sponsored by the Inter- national Women's Council of Caitada. Richard Beckman won second prize in the Whitby Fire Department's fire prevention poster contest. Roger Santiago was named best athlete inthe Atom Divi sion at the Durham Region Separate School Board's regional track and field meet in Ajax June 20.
