July 31 from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p. m. the Y wiIl be presenting a Karate demonstration at the Chamber of Commerce trade fair at Iroquois Park Arena. Aug. 1 at the trade fair, starting at 7:30 p.m. the Y will be holding its annual tricycle decorating and bike relay contests. Entries will be accepted on the spot. Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. the Y is presenting a Disco Dance at Iroquois Park Arena. Tickets are $2 per person at the door. Aug. 5, 6 and 7 the YMCA 5 artists honored at, juried exhibition will conduet annual County Town Carnival Tennis Tournament at the, Peel Park tennis courts, starting at 9 a.m. and proceeding al day.. There were 64 pieces submitted to the juried section of the exhibit ion and 33 were accepted.- "The calibre of "the juried pieces is ^excellent and comipares highly with works done in other regions," said Mr. Bakes. Dart tourne The largest dart tourn- ament ever held in Whitby wiIl take place.during the County Town Carnival, Aug. 5 and 6 at *the Brooklin Arena. Organized by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112, the tournament is expected to attract 100 teams of competitors. The entry fee is 40 dollars, and müst t>e mailed before July 22 to John Mclvor, Legion Branch 112, 117 Byron Street South, Whitby. The first 100 teams wilI be accepted. For further information cal l te Legion at 666-9028. The first prize for the dart tournanient is $1,000 and awards are being offered by Molsons breweries. The events get under way at 9 a.xn. both days at the Brooklin Arena. Aug. 5 there will be round robin team play and ladies' and men's singles knockouts. Aug. 6 the top 10 teamis from the previous day's compet- ition will play a round robin series, and there will be a consolation round robin series for 10 teams. Lescisin of 804 Henry Street, a Grade 13 student at Henry Street High School was one f the top 20 students in a physics contest held recently at McMaster University in Hamilton. Martin VanHout, f Denig O'Connor High Sehool was in the top 20 in the mathematics contest, and Laura Nicholis Of 126 Michael Boulevard was in the. top 20 in the biology contest. Adinner and tour of the MeMaster campus was provided for the top 75 con- testants in the four subjects, which also included chemistry.
