On July 7 the Dunedin squad took on Ajax and again camne out on top 11-8. Winning pitdher was Greg Mclsaac. In a 12-inning game between Whitby and Keene, Whity prevailed and won with a 7 to 6 score. Rick Dunphy was awarded the game, pitching in relief of Jeff Cyr. The Dunedin squad turned over four double plays and outhit Keen 12 to 7. Top hitters for Whitby were: Pitcher Jeff Cyr with a home run and two other hits, Rick Dunphy with three, and Paul Heffer and Gary Shearer with two each. The Dunedins then took on Little Britain handily with a 10-3 score. Pitcher Greg Mclsaac threw a no hitter in this gamne, giving Up three unearned runs late in the gamre. Whitby hitters were Steve Parrott with three, Paul Heffer, Dave Chiehanskie and Steve Gallagher with two each. In the gamne of the season between Whitby and Belle- ville on July 12, both the teams left the playing field at curfew with a 6-6 tie. Whitby used three pitchers and both teams had 10 hits apiece. PEE WEE The Whitby Legion Pee Wees hosted -Cobourg July il and camne out on top of an 8 to 5 score. Winning pitcher was Paul Guest. Cobourg haddd five hits and Whitby came up with eight. Jeff Hanley came up with two. The Pee Wee season record is fine wins and two losses. FOLLOW THE Latest scores in minor soccer The following are the latests resuits in Durham Inter-District Soccer play: JUNIOR July 10 at Peel Park, Ferrco Engineering defeated Westshore 4-1 with two penalty shots by Keith Wilson, and goals by Kari Schempp &nd Dave Wilcox. Once again Whitby gave the opposition few scoring chances by controlling the mid field play and creating numerous openings, but again finishing off was the problem. Ferrco got on the score- board three minutes before the interval and again 23 minutes after the restart, but Westshore narrowed . the gap to 2-1 two minutes later. Whitby was awarded a penalty kick at the 32 minute mark. Wilson's inital shot came off the post. Wilcox picked up the rebound but he 18 yard box and Wilson made no mistake on his second try. Six minutes later a West- shore defender dived and saved a certain goal. However Wilson made no mistake from the resulting penalty kick. PEE WEE July il at Civie Fields in Oshawa the Oshawa Rangers defeated the Long- muir Builders 4-2, with Robbie Longmuir and Fred D'Andrea getting the only Whitby goals. The Rangers are still unbeaten. Whitby was ahead 2-0 in the first but couldn't hold on. OSHAWA LEAGUE In the Oshawa League July 6 at Civic Fields, the Spartans defeated Whitby Crown Industrials 4-0. The Spartans have not lost a game alI season.
