Is carnival time agaîn!l From now until Monday Aug. 7, ail Whitby wiiI be participatîng in the many events of the l3th annual County Town Carnival. Starting today and running through Saturday, there will be a sidewalk sale in the downtown, and there will be carnival rides and ail kinds of attractions' at Iroquois Park. This year, also, Brooklin will be the site ofa good share of the carnival events. At 7 p.m. tonight the Whitby Opti-Mrs. Club will judge its senior citizens craft contest at Fairview Lodge. Also, tonight is the last night for the Chamber of Com- merce trade fair at Iroquois Park Arena, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The Canadian Scottish Club pavilion will be open upstairs in the Whitney Hall froin 6:30 p.m. toi1 a.m., and froin 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be open house at the Whitby Arts Station ý'aliery. A special new event tonight is the tug of war between the Durham Regional Police and the Metro Police B. teain, at 7 p.m. in Iroquois Park. Thursday night features two big events, the Wintario draw at Iroquois Park Arena and the Canadian Legion softball game at Centennial Park at 8 p.m. The Doors of the arena open at 7 p.m. for the Wintario draw. From 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p. m., Bert Heaver will present his annual variety show, followed by the live televised draw at 9 p.m., featuring Fred Davis and Faye Dance. Friday the Royal Canadian Legion Hall on B3yron Street will have open house from 1 p.m. -and a Peel Park, and there will be a minor soccer tournament at Peel, St. John's, Garden Street and Brooklin parks. Special events of the day include the Legion Dart tournament starting at 10 arn. at the Brooklin Arena, and the Whitby Arts outdoor arts fair at the Station froin ilotito 8 prn, At 5 p.m. there will be a swim meet at Iroquois Park pool, at 2 pn. there will be the Kinsmen.- open fun competitions at Kinsmein Park, and from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be a hobby and craft-fair at the munici- pal building. Froin 3:30 p.ni. to 8 p.m. Saturday the Whitby Rotary Club will have a chicken barbeque at Heydenshore Park. The first of the Garden Brothers'Circus shows will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at Iroquois Park Arena, and from 8:30 p.m.to 1 ain. there will be the Kiwanis Las Vegas Night at Heydenshore Pavilion. Sunday's events start at 8 a.in. with the Rotary Pan- cake Breakfast in heyden- shore Park and at 10 a.m. with the novice car rally at Iroquois Park. The craft and hobby fair Seniors' continues froin noon to 5 pin. at the municipal building and the flower show from 10 a.rn. to 4 p.m. At 10 a.m. the YMCA skateboard competition will be held at Iroquois Park. The soccer and tennis tournaments continue fromf Saturday, and also the Whitby Arts, Fair. Garden Brother Circus times Sunday are 1 pin., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. From 2p.rn. to 6p. m. there will be a beef barbeque at the Whitby Legion Hall, and at 2 p.m. there will be an inner tube teain water polo game at Kinsmen Park pool.
