John Luke and his rink of Oshawa with' Claire Peacock, vi ce, 'Rick Gay, second and Rck Johnston, head defeated Larry Snow of Humber Highland 5-3, Ron Wills of Orilhia 8-7 and Hon Cameron of Whitby 6-5. On Sunday the three game winners were Dave Velanoff of the Highland Curling Club and Ahhan Brown of bondon. They wilh advance to the first event on Saturday ahong with Sharples, Palmer, Manning & Gurowka. Brown scored against Paul Featherstone 0f Fenlh Falls 9-6, MacKay of Whitby 7-6 and Jim byhe 0f St. Thomas 10-6. Velanoff of the Highland Curling Club won his first game against Wayne Oates, Brighton, 9-2,- his second against Bih 'Cornish, Port Perry 6-5 and, his third against Dean Patzer, Guelph 6-2. Chayton MacKay of Whitby won his first game against Bob Mann, Dixie 7-1 but lost his second to Allan Brown of bondon 6-7 thereby ending, his 'changes of further competition. His rink consisted 0f Keith Lawes, vice, Mike Trudeau, second and Randy Neal, lead. Cam Davidson of Guelph, first runner-up in 1977 felh to defeat in his third garne against Bob Mann of Dixie 6-2. He lost bis first to Cam Bogie 0f Maitland 6-8 but cajne baclk to def eat Ron Patton of the Royals 5-3. He is now out of thecompetition. Dean Patzer of Guelph Who curled, on Davidson's rink hast year defeated John Duguay, Glenidahe 6-4 and Jim Hinkorff, York, 8-4 and, lost, bis third game to Velanoff 2-6. John. Duguay of the Glendahe Golf and Curling Club was a two game winner against Creber of Annandahe, 5-3,and Oates 0f Brighton 5-3, his first gamne was lost to Patzer 4-6.
