Dr.,, Whitcombe is presently living on the Mark- ham-Pickering townline. Three years ago he retîred from the pastorate of Wishing Well'Acres Baptist Church, Agincourt. This is a chùrch he and bis wife pioneered twenty years' earlier, which bas grown into a strong work. At the seme time Mrs. Whitomb retredfrom her position as Re-ading 'Coord- ina tor for the East York Board of Education. In that caâpacity sbe was% known1 to many Durbam Reinteachers, baving conducted various'Ministry of 'Education and Durham Board courses. Imâmediately upon- retire- Ment the Whitcombes spent two busy. years studying at the University of Montpellier in southern France, and driving through.almost aIl of Western Europe from Crete in, the Mediterranea'n to Trondheim in Norway. 1Before .returning to Canada onDeceniber 1, a year ago, they spent three months travelling around the. world, visiting former students of Dr. Witcombe's, in Pakistan, ,India, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and- Japan, and friends in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hawaii. Retirement has turned at to be SÃ"meWhat of a myth.- For tbe' past year they bave -travelled thousands of miles in Canada representing the work of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist churches in Quebec. This now, rapidly-growing work comprising some sixty-eight French-speaking churches is the outgrowtb of a vision they have shared- and worked for many years. Being bilingual has enabled Dr. Whitcombe 1o teah Sminrycourses in French to the large group of Francophone. pastors now occupying new churches throughout the province. 1The, Whitcombes are looking forward to, a fruitful ministry at Meadowcrest while the church there seeks GOd's direction in the cliice of a pastor. Mr. Gordon was warned that if he breacbed the probation that he could be fined, sent to jail or both fined and sent to jail. One of the conditions of the proba- tion is the payment of the $93.48 to the Off ice of the Administrator of Provincial Court, Oshawa. Mr. Gordon pleaded guilty to the charge. Last August 10, he*came to the Shoprite Store, Dundas Street, Whitby and nDurchased a C.B., Radio. H1e on~ aRegina Saskatchewan bank. The cheque was returned'marked flot suffi- cient funda.
