Malta 'club changes its colors Sunday, December 17 was an unforgettable day in the annals of the Malta Social Club; for this was the day in which the club, decided-to be the first organization, 'since the formation of the Region of Durham,ý to change the Coat-of-Arms on both the official Baniner and the Corporate Seal, from the old Ontario County to the new Region of Durham. Present for this unique occasion were distinguished representatives from the four levels of Government, together with representa- tions from various Ethnic and Service Clubs, and the knights of St. John. Fr. D. Rainey. John Drisco1l, organist of St. Gregory's Church, OshaWa, was at the organ, while Larry Sacchett sang both national anthems. After the church service the congregation was led to Denis O'Connor High School Auditorium for refresh- ruents, prepared by the club's Women Auxiliary, and entertainment by the Malta Youth Club Dancers. Letters of congratulations were.read and presented to the club by the following distinguished personalities on behaîf of their respective government: John Pisani, Consul & Trade Commissioner, for the Maltese government, Norm Caf ik, Minister of State Mult- iculturalism, for the Federal government, George Ashe, M.P.P., for the Provincial government, Walter Beath, Chairman of Durham Region, and Councillor Joe *Bugelli, for the Municipality of Whitby. The club would like to, recognize and sîncerely thank the following: a) John Pulis of 26 Carter Cres., Whitby, who.-expertly designed and hand sewed bot h the old and new Banners. b) Sister Mildred Moyle, for allowing the club to use the Auditorium. c) The club reserves a spe- cial vote of thanks to our Master of Ceremonies, Joe Frendo Cumbo, C.D. Cana- dian Prior O.S.J., who pre- pared the program and directed, this event proudly and flawlessly from start to finish. d) The club wvas particularly proud and thankful to have the Whitby Legion Branchý 1/112 displaying their colours, alongside with theirs during the entire ceremony.
