Other service'clubs are asked to submit material to'be included in this colunin. The Optimist Club of Whitby was chartered on January 15, 1975, and is affilîated with Optimist International. Individual Optimist clubs existed *as early as 1911. In June, 1 919, representatives of il Optimist clubs. met' in Louisville, Kentucky, to diseuss mutual objectives and activities.- This was the beginning of Optimist International and the establish- ment of Optimist clubs'throughout North America. Today, Optimist International is a federationof more than 3000,clubs with wýeii over 100,000 Optimist members. Its chief objective is to help Otimist clubs increase the effectiveness of their community serving organizations. The international office is located in St. Louis, MVissouri. The number of dwelling un its in the Otter Creek Area meets the criteria that the Postal Department has set out for mail delîvery serv- ices. Mayor Gartshore pointed out that the regu- lations as set out by the Postal Service state that the Otter Creek development area of the Town has devel- toped to more than the point where it qualifies for mail delivery service. He pointed out that this particular area is within the mail deliver-y boundary area.
