WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, MY 9, 1979, PAGE 25 CBC Builders win opener The Whitby CBC Builders, Ontario Junior A Lacrosse champions, opened their regular season last Wednes- day at Iroquois Park'Arena by defeating the Mississauga Builders 23-14. The Builders fired two goals within the first minute of play, getting the game off to a good start. They led 7-2 at the end of the first period and 16-8 at the end of the second. Ken Colley scored six goals and had three assists, and Captain Cam Devine scored two goals and assisted on eight. Ed Derks and AI MacDonald had three goals each and MacDonald had two assists. Scoring two goals each were Marty Gallas, Gil Nieuwendyk and Blane Harrison. Singles. were scored by Randy Gallas, Dave Cruickshank andÃRick Nieuwendyk. Marty Gallas and Dave Clarke assisted on four goals each and goalie Brian Reed, Jamie Roach and Harrison assisted on three goals each. Five Whitby goals were scored on the powerplay and one while the team was shorthanded. Although there was some concern about weakness because of losing six players from last year's Minto Cup finalist team, the Builders showed they were in good form for the opener. .The second game of the season for the Builders was played Tuesday at Peterbo- rough.
