One fence removed, but nothlng in sight to replace it. 1Lets hope our Town officiais are flot like Hilmpty Dunipty who, when they use a word, it means just wha t they choose it to mean, neither more or less. The K-Mart plaza, in ail likelihood, is contemplating an expansion, and a food chain may be considering the above mehtioned corner for yet another take-out restaurant. ilowever, the Cairn is an historical Iandnriark and could easily be incorporated into the overail theme of the plaza. Many ares residents, and for that matter, residents froni ail over the Côunty Town, have voiced their objection to the proposed removal of the Cairn. Several of our councillors have assured me that the Cairn will remain. 1This is as it shQuld be. We must preserve our historical, past. Our' ares was known once as Thornton Corners and although we are now Whitby, many fondly remember Thornton Corners. 'Save the stone Monument.'
