F amily Hous e mixes home atm ospheewt ining prestige Most restaurants in this area welcome families and most of them have a children's section in their me nu, but the Family House Restaurant at 110 Dunlop, East in Whitby is featuring the fact it caters to the family, and serving lunches and dinners that the family man can afford. Under the management of Gus Christou, the restaurant now includes a dining room, bright and warmn with white solid wood tables. The deocr is light and gives off that homelike atmosphere while stili hanging onto the dining room prestige. The Family House opens at 8 a.m. for breakfasts and you can have bacon, eggs and coffee at a very reasonable price. Naturally the place is spotless, which is another factor in its favor. Gus dlaims his prices for breakfast, lunch or dinner are uncomparable, and we would agree that the prices on his dinner menu are quite reasonable. Joy had the veal and Ihad a small steak. The plate also included a potato, which had a special taste. The chef told us that he roasts the potatoes and we agree it does make them different. The Family House is fully licensed and is open Monday through Saturday. They close Sundays. Parking is free and you are advised to phone for reservations. For those readers who may not be familiar with the location, the restaurant is on Dunlop Street, just east of Brock across from the Dominion store. Many of his patrons refer to him as uncle Gus, and he enjoys this familiar note as much as the customers do. A special feature of the Family House is dancing to recorded music on Thur- sday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Linda hanles the music and is always pleased to play requests. You can enjoy a table right at the edge of the dance floor - that is of course if there are any availabie if you happen to arrive without a reser- vation. 1 Gus has two sons, and the eider boy John, helps after school hours. The staff is pleasant and polite, and you can't help but get the feeling they really are trying to make your evening an en- joyable one. Because of his prices, Gus is getting a very good lun- cheon crowd, and more and more people are dropping in for breakfast on the way to work. For any meal of the day, but especially for the family man who would like to treat the family to dinner, we can recommend the Family House Restaurant and Tavern. The prices are right, and the food is not only wholesome, but also tasty. Casin'o Night cancelled The Whitby Arts Station has announced that their Winter Casino Night, scheduled for Saturday, February 28 has been can- celled. The event was to be held in conjunction with the recen- tly cancelled Whitby Winter Carnival. w Ckîssified Ads seli cali 668-6111 Watermill Restaurant & Tavern
