(This story is a sup- plement to the article that appears on page 2 of this edition of the Whitby Free Press). Brian Van Allen, of 409 Rosedale Drive, and a num- ber of his neighbours showed up at Monday night's meeting of council to seek support for the committee's position. In a deputation to council, Van Allen said that area residents were flot opposed to industrial development but they "strongly object to any deterioration of our life style."' Van Allen told council that the resident's lifestyle would be changed because of potential pollution and parking problems if the land was sold. He also claimed that if council sold the property the value of Rosedale Drive homes would decrease by $5,000 to $6,000. The spokesman further claimed that residents are already experiencing severe pollution problems including the settling of a gray-white dust on clothing that is lef t Qut to dry. "The quality of life of our residents must not be com- prised, " he said. Speaking in support of Van Allen's position, East Ward Councillor Joe Drumm, also a resident of Rosedale Drive, said that the "option to sell the land really isn't there.
