ART It's time again for the an- nual display of General Motors employees' artistic talents. The seventh annual GM Employee Art Exhibit will be held at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, on April 23 and. 24 from 10 to 9 p.m., April 25 from 12 to 9 p.m. and April 26 from 12 to 5 p.m. Besides this multi-media exhibit of over 200 entries by GM employees and retirees, there will be in-process displays of painting, wood carving, soft sculpture and others, as well as oppor- tunities to chat with the various artists who will be present during the exhibit. Grant Warner, GM of Canada vice-president and general manufacturing manager, will officially open the show on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome to attend. SOAP BOX DERBY The Whitby Jaycees will be holding a soap-box derby on July 18 for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 16. The event will be held un- der the auspices of the Canadian Soap-Box Derby Association. MEETING The West Lynde Parent School Association will hold a special meeting on April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the school gym. On May 5, Mental Health Durham will hold its annual meeting at the Kinsmen Community Centre, 109 Colbourne Street West, Oshawa. The guest speaker will be Daphne Holland, the director of the Freedom from Fear Foundation. Her topic will be how to deal with fear. On May 8, the Hope Centre will hold an open house. The Hope Centre is a day program for people with mental health problems and is located in the Arts Resource Building, 45 Queen Street, Oshawa.
