PRîuxRESS 1DITION. WIIITBY 1-R*-I:Rl[ PSS, WII)NEýSDAY. NIAN' 6,1981, PAGE 23 Paramount ready to start on second phase of Pringle Creek Most municipalitïes. have inc'orporated into thern a t,umher of smaller comn- munities, and Whitby is no exception boasting such communities as the West Lynde, the Corridor, Otter Creek and others. Paramount Development Corporation is developing another commnunity for Whitby-Pringle Creek. As most Whitby residents are aware, the first phase of this community is already completed and mostly oc- cupied. Street. When completed, the sub- division wýill boast 246.69 acres of gross residential area with some 1,262 units. The residential deiisity, will be 18.2 persons living in five units per acre complete with ample space for schools, parks, open spaces, comnmercial and communitY centres and new roads. The subdivision has an in- tegrated mix of housing to meet the needs and demands of area residents providing a variety of family-style ac- commodation. more than 1,500 feet away from the main valley park. The concept of the plan is to create a community within the town with a diver- sified environment offering its residents a superior range of urban experience. The plan hopes to create a fet-ing of a self-contained community within Whitby; to give each resident a sense of identity; to enhance the attractiveness of the area by exploiting its identifiable characteristics; to provide an economic and social cross-section of the general Pringle Cree k p hase o rie However, Pringle Creek is fa r f rom being complete. Now that the first phase is complete Paramount is moving towards compteting the second, third, fourth and f if th phases of the project. The draft plan for the Pringle Creek covers an area of 316 acres located on the south-east corner of Rossland Road and Garden The site is centered around the area's main geographic feature, the Pringle Creek Valley which will provide a major open space corridor that will con- nect, by a walkway systemn, the local and district parks and schools on the surroun- ding tableland. It is interesting to note that no part of the Pringle Creek community will be population including a wide range of physical and social facilities and to create an in- tegrated environmient where the' resident can live in serenity. Paramounit has great hopes for the subdivision, believing that it has the capabîlity to provide a good hom~e environrnent for area residents. The development of this community is a sign that Whitby is growing, that it is town and is becoming a prosperous place to live.
