'e~#oe-t&1ôn4 ~ 1931 -1981 Busy people get things done, and Joe always finds time somehow to be active in community affairs. He has been a spearhead in the Ajax Kinsmen Club, Ajax Home Week, Ajax Minor Sports, by sponsorinlg literally dozens of teams. Sevural of Joe's own family work with the firm including his father Lou, one time owner and publisher of the former Ajax Advertiser. Dickson Printing and Of- fice Supplies has grown into a large volume business, providing incomes for a lot of families in this area. No one on the staff works har- der than the boss himself. If the real truth were admit- ted, probably few of them could keep up with him. Joe Dickson is a self-made man, and can feel proud of himself. He is liked, respec- ted and even admired by many of his fellow residents. His father Lou and mother, Mary are also very proud of him. It's a personal pleasure to write something about Joe Dickson and his business operation. Dickson Printing. and Office Supplies cer- tainly exemplifies progress in this area. Joe Dickson, owner of Dickson Printing and Office Supplies in Ajax bas been a friend and business acquain- tance of mine for more yuars than either of us caru to remember. 1 first met Joe when he had one press in a small backroom in the basement north of his present location in Ajax Plaza. After a few months here, Joe moved out and I lost track of him for several years, but I was soon to learn bu was stili around, and in a very big way. As his printing business grew, some of bis customurs started ta ask for office sup- plies, so he stocked a few items. The few items then, can bu numbered in several thousand today. Add to al this, the large invuntory he carnies in office furnituru. And of course, the printing dupartment has expanded as well and instead of one press theru are several of them. Joe Dickson started out alone and today has a staff of about 32 persons working for him. Just recently he opened his new office supply store on ground level in the south end of Ajax Plaza at 218 Harwood South. At first, Jou made deliveries in bis car, but this soon becamu too mucb and bu got a truck. Today Dickson Printing has a fluet of 18 velbiclus. At onu timu we saw Eaton delivery trucks everywbere, but today they are gone, and have been replaced by the yellow îand blue trucks of I)ickson Printing! 'fime sure can change the scenery.
