WlHITBY FREF PRESSS. WEDNESDAY, _JUNIE. 17, 1 81, PAGE 15 Father's Day, Fiesta Week and graduation dining There are three special events coming up in Durham Region this month, and each of them could be cause for a dining celebration. We are taking the liber- ty of mentioning them in this column and suggesting three restaurants where a couple or family could dine out in celebration of one of these oc- casions. First of all we have Father's Day on June 21, and in that connec- tion we recommend taking dad to the Watermill Restaurant just north of the Man- chester lights. It is only minutes away from any point in Durham, and it is well worth the trip. They serve a hot buf- fet, home-cooked flavour, for under $6 a plate, but you can go back as often as you wish. This price in- cludes the salad bar, then a choice of hot turkey, roast beef or pork, mashed potatoes, two kinds of gravy and vegetables. For dessert you can have jello, rice pudding or fruit cup. Where else can you get a deal like this; and we know the food is good for we have now eaten at The Watermill on several occasions. Dad will enjoy it too, especially if you allow him to keep his wallet in his back pocket. Fiesta Week is coming up this month in Oshawa. They have pavillions all over the city, but after trying a few of the Ethnic dishes, you might want to try a restaurant that serves real European food, and for the best in Italian dishes, try Fazzio's at the corner of Simcoe and Athol Streets. The food, the prices and the atmosphere will delight you, and the staff is both prompt and courteous. They have live music and dancing on the weekends. Also, a big event this month is school graduations and maybe if Mary or Johnny has done well and deserve a night out for dinner, it could be a family affair that would be remem- bered for a long time. For this one, we are recommending the Grenada Restaurant in Sheridan Mall in Pickering. Here the whole family can enjoy a good dinner at very reasonable prices. The Grenada has the largest salad bar in Durham Region, containing 50 different items. The salad bar is included with every full course meal. The owners of the Grenada have long been conscious of keeping prices down and have managed to do this by selective buying by con- tract. You will find the staff here to be very cour- teous and the at- mosphere very pleasant. The Grenada is an excellent spot for family dining. These are three that we recommend, having tried them all. You may Whitby Ambulance Service calls During the week that ended at midnight last Thursday, the Whitby Ambulance Service respon- ded to 74 calls for service. According to co-owner Derek Pearce, the service responded to 27 routine calls and to 28 standby calls for other ambulance services in Oshawa and Ajax. The service also responded to 19 emergency calls, including two motor vehicle accidents. The number to call for ambulance service is 723- 5232. have your own favourite, but we can assure you that you will Dining Guide Le CHALET DINING ROOM, 100 Dundas Street, Whitby 668-4377 Long a favourite eating spot for people in Durham Region, Le Chalet specializes in Seafood, Steaks and Roast Beef.
