The final point total for the competition was Whitby 258, Longueuil 216. The annual exchange meet was held Saturday morning. Janice Currie won the high point trophy at the WISC-Orca swim meet for the girls' 10 and un- der. Kim Walker was the other Whitby girl winner in high points. Three Whitby boys won the high point trophies for their respective age groups. Adrian Vargas (8 and under), Chris Donnelly (10 and under) and David Goulding (15 and over) were the three Whitby Swim Club win- ners. Vargas took his age group placing three fir- sts and a second finish. Donnelly swept the boys' 10 and under age group with five firsts and Goulding placed four firsts and a second to win his group. Currie won the girls' 10 and under top honors with two firsts and three seconds to her credit while Walker captured the girls' 13/14 age group with two firsts, a second and a third. Other strong swim- mers for Whitby were Jill Connor with two fir- sts, a second and a third place finish, Colleen Coutts with a first and four thirds, Kelly Walker with two firsts and a third, and Denise VanDoleweerd with a first and four seconds. Top swimmers for the boys included Brent Walsh with five seconds, Kevin Walker with a fir- st, second and three thirds, Trevor Crump with a first and a third place finish, Robbie Walsh with two seconds and Mike Pfeiffer with a first and four seconds. The Whitby Swimmers will travel to Longueuil for a return meet at the beginning of the 1981-82 season. Ladies softball The Provincial Womens Softball Association of Ontario is pleased to announce that they have en- tered into a sponsorship agreement with the Permanent. The Midget Girls division will be the recipient of the Permanent's assistance. The Provincial Women's Softball Association will operate four regional tournaments on July 3, 4, and 5. The regional tournaments will be in Brantford, North York, Oshawa and Fergus. The top three teams plus a host team will compete in the Ontario championship tournament on July 17, 18 and 19 in Byron. The winner in Byron will represent Ontario in the Midget Ladies Canadian Championships on July 29 - August 2 in L'Annon- ciation, Quebec. The P.W.S.A. is excited about the acquisition of the Permanent as its first corporate sponsor and looks forward to a long and happy relation- ship with them. Golf winner Doug Johnson, the president of Glenwood Lin- coln Mercury, Whitby, recently won the third annual Newcastle Oldtimers golf tournament. The event, held at the Newcastle Golf Club, at- tracted 193 competitors from as far away as Lin- dsay, Burlington and Peterborough. Johnson, who shot a 68, was awarded with the Queen's Hotel Trophy. Builders game The Whitby C.B.C. Builders play host to Mississauga tomorrow night, Wednesday. July 1 at the Iroquois Park Arena. Game time is at 8 p.m. Redmen game The Brooklin Redmen will play their next home game Thursday, July 9 against Scar- borough a t the Brooklin Memorial Arena. Game time is at 8:30 p.m. WISC barbecue The Whitby Iroquois Swim Club will be holding their annual barbecue and awards presentation this Thursday, July 2 at Iroquois Park. The event will begin with a special swim bet- ween 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Redmen continue streak In a complete turn about from the earlier part of the season the Brooklin Redmen ex- tended their current' winning streak to four games last week, defeating first place Peterborough Lakers for the second game in a row, 14-6. The key to the game was the tight Brooklin defence which allowed the Lakers only one goal in the final period. Penalties allowed the Lakers only one goal in the final period. Penalties plagued the game with Peter- borough taking 68 minutes and the Red- men 57. Larry Graham was Brooklin's top shooter, notching four goals and four assists, with double efforts from Ken Colley, Blane Harrison and Marty Gallas. Steve Kashul, Bryce Jordan, Tim Lintner and Tom Wreggitt picked up singles. With the win the Redmen are tied for fourth place with the Scarborough Saints, a team they meet next in Scarborough July 6 and again in Brooklin July 9. Because of the holiday this Wednesday and the altered production schedule, the results of Saturday night's game with Owen Sound were not available at press time.
