That means that residents of Brooklin who are anxiously awaiting tlie installation of trunk water supply and santary sewer ser- vices cotild he in for a long wait. Six weeks after Durham Regional Council gave its biessing to the proposai by First City Develop- ments Corporation, Ltd. a copy of the proposed agreement was sent to the applicant. Somer Rumm, vice- president of First City, said in an interview last week that bis staff is reviewing the agree- ment but no devisions have been made. "Both sides are working on the agreement," Rumni said. "I believe that we'll have reached a position (on the agree- ment) witbin the for- seeable future. RDF has plans for lands in the Town of Whitby. "But it's just a draft, I'm sure that there will be changes," the mayor said. Attersley sits on Durham Regional Council's management committee which is responsibie for al of Durhani's legal under- takings inciuding the drawing up of the various subdivision and development agree- ments. He said that town staff have reviewed the agreement. "We've looked at the agreement in regards to our own deveiopment agreem ent," Attersley said indicating that there are no major con- flicts. He wouid not like to see the agreements reached by the Town of Whitby and the region to be too difficuit. "It would be assinine to have the agreements running in separate directions," he said. However, when the proposai reaches the Ontario Municipal Board, Attersiey is con- fident that First City wili be ready to begin construction aimost immediateiy after- wards. "I'm only guessing but I think it would be before the 0MB before next June,"I the mayor said adding, "'1m sure they'li, have everything in place, reaàdy to go." Attersley said that the negotiations that are stili ieft are important, but not as important as one would think because both parties have agreed that there should be development in Brooklin. "The intent is tbere by both parties and that's the important thing."1 An informed source has said that the agree-. ment, which states that First City shall pay al costs relating to the deveiopment, will be agreed to by the developer. That view bas yet to be made officiai by either the developer or the region. There is a cioud on the horizon for the develop- ment, however. JIane Ppinoma lawyer
