Yet with a littie fore- thought and care these sturdy structures could be preserved and pro- tected as memories of days gone by. The Terrace located at 122-130 Byron Street North just north of Dun- das, was built ini 1857 by Robert Perry, son of Whitby founder Peter Perry. They showed the style and class of today's lawyers' and doctors' predecessors. With a few renovations these buildings could be restored to their original beauty and thus occupied by pro- fessionals once more. As with most older bouses it has become stylish to renovate and live in row bouses with Cabbagetown being a fine example of this. The buildings are two storey brick structures. The three inner build- ings have skylights up- stairs to give added light as these buildings have no side windows. Though they are now being used as apart- ments, tbe rooms could quite easily be restored to their original si-zes. Eacb bouse bas a magnificent fireplace. The fireplace in 126 Byron is a fireplace typical of the 1850 time period. Surrounding and in front of the fire- place are tiles. Around these tUles is an ornately crafted wooden frame supporting a mantde and completely surrounding the -mirror which Is above the mantie. 122 Byron Street, which is the firat house of the row, has been renovated to a style seen more of ten in Cabbagetown, that of a chicly renovated town- bouse. "The type of resi- dential we're getting is good assessment residential, " he said. Attersley also pointed out that the, now rosy, picture could change with the shifts in the residential market. "The market can change," he said adding that these changes could mean either an increase or decrease in the sale of homes in the town. "We'Il roll with the market," he added.
